About the speaker

Jonathan Tinniswood MA, LPC-MHSP-S, NCC, Linehan Certified DBT Therapist

Jon Tinniswood has been working in the field of Mental Health since 2002. He has experience working in 4 different states across the country. His clinical interests are as broad as his personal experiences. He has worked extensively in residential settings, PHP and IOP care. Currently, he is beginning his 7th year in private practice. Jon has had extensive experience in family systems therapy. He has also worked with adolescents throughout his 20-year career. His primary specialty is in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Jon is one of a few hundred Linehan Certified DBT therapists across the world. This certification is one of the most, if not the most rigorous, long-term certifications available for psychologists and counselors. This process averages between 4-5 years to complete. Jon leads DBT Skills groups, carries a DBT individual patient load, and participates in a DBT consultation group. Jon maintains an active role in promoting DBT throughout the clinical community as well as educating non-clinical community members on the value of DBT treatment and DBT skills such as mindfulness.
